Is Aereo available to me?

Aereo is available to residents of select areas only. Please see our coverage area for details. To sign up, your credit card must have a billing address within our coverage area.

So what actually happens when I use Aereo?

As an Aereo member, you have access to a tiny TV antenna located in a data center near you. This antenna is connected to a remote DVR in the same data center. You control both from an Internet-connected device, such as your computer or smart phone. When you tune to a channel through the Aereo application on your device, you instruct your antenna to tune to that channel and start recording the programming to the DVR. This lets you pause and rewind the program while you're watching. To save this recording for future use, you simply hit "Record" at any time while watching. You can also schedule your DVR to record shows that are on in the future, just like you can with a DVR in your home.

What devices does Aereo work on?

Aereo works with the latest versions of most popular Web browsers, iOS devices such as the iPad and the iPhone, the Apple TV (via AirPlay), and Roku. Click here for a complete list of supported devices. We are actively working on adding support for more devices. Stay tuned for updates.

Where can I use Aereo?

You can use Aereo anywhere within your home coverage area, so long as you have an Internet connection. Aereo is not limited to your home wi-fi or any particular broadband or wireless provider. Please see our coverage area for information about where you can use Aereo.

How much does Aereo cost?

Our basic monthly membership is just $8 a month, plus tax. That gets you 20 hours of DVR space to record your shows. Or, for $4 more, you can upgrade to 60 hours of DVR space and the ability to record two shows at once. Both plans include 24/7 access to a remote antenna to access the live television broadcasts in your home coverage area, subject to capacity. Data rates may also apply, so check with your broadband provider or wireless carrier for more details.

Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan?

Yes, you can change your plan at any time from your Account Details page. Changes take effect immediately. If you upgrade to a higher-priced plan, you will be billed immediately for the pro-rated difference between your current plan and your new selection. If you switch to a lower-priced plan, your account will be credited the pro-rated value of any unused time left in your current billing cycle. This amount will be credited towards future invoices. In either case, your next regular invoice will be one month after the date you changed plans.

Do I need to have a cable subscription to use Aereo?


How does the free month work?

It's simple. When you sign up for Aereo, we will wait a full 31 days before we charge your credit card. If for whatever reason you decide Aereo isn't for you, just cancel during that first month and you won't be charged a thing. If you want to keep using Aereo, do nothing and your credit card will automatically be charged every month. Your broadband provider or wireless carrier may charge for data transfer, even during your free month. Please check with your data provider for details.

When will I be billed?

Your first billing date will be the day after your free month ends. Then, you will be billed on (or about) the same day of the month every month. You can find your next billing date on your Account Details page. Your membership will automatically renew on that date unless you cancel your membership prior to its renewal.

What happens to my saved recordings if I change plans?

If you upgrade to more DVR space, nothing – you just have more space for saving your recordings. If you downgrade your account, and you have fewer than 20 hours of recordings currently saved, your other DVR settings will remain the same. If you have more than 20 hours of recordings, your oldest recordings will be automatically flagged for deletion until you are under the 20 hours of saved recordings. But don’t worry, you will have two days to watch these recordings or manage your DVR to protect any recordings you want to keep around.

How do I cancel my membership?

We hate to see you go, but if Aereo just isn't right for you, it's easy to cancel your membership. There is no long-term commitment. You can cancel from your Account Details page. Your membership will remain active until the end of your current billing cycle. At that point, it will become an inactive account. You can re-activate at anytime simply by logging back in and following the prompts to re-activate your membership.
